Liam Payne is not going to let any form of social media gossip to ruin his good reputation. The One Direction singer took to Twitter to address rumors that he has a drinking problem.

In a previous article, Inquistr shared that Payne was "drinking too much" according to Unreality TV. In their "On The Road Again" tour, the singer was allegedly partying and drinking most of the time.

It didn't help that he previously tweeted, "Early show after a night out not a good mix, hope it's good for you Tokyo," which many took as a sign that the singer, in fact has an alcohol problem.

Upon hearing about the news, the One Direction hottie immediately slammed the rumor in a series of tweets, writing, "@IQShowbiz now I don't really like responding too news articles anymore but i really think this is out of order I don't have a problem."

He added, "thanks for worrying but I don't spend my time off stage drinking I play video games with friends and go to the gym."

He also explained that he doesn't drink more than any university student his age, saying that he's just like any "normal boy" his age. Payne also shared that when he's not busy on tour, he's almost always busy playing video games and going to the gym.

The singer, however, was quick to apologize to his fans and followers for the "rant."

The Inquistr, has since apologized to Liam Payne and his fans for reporting on "existing gossip and rumors" about his alleged drinking problem. The website claimed that the writer had been counseled against reporting stories based on speculation. The story, however, was not taken down "for the sake of transparency."

This is not the first time that a member from One Direction stood up for himself against vicious rumors. Late last year, Zayn Malik, in an interview, said that he was "really angry" at Matt Lauer for insinuating that he was not able to appear on "The Today Show" because of drug or sentence abuse.

"I'm really angry and upset by what was said on "The Today Show." I was really ill at the weekend, that's why I couldn't fly to America. I was gutted to have to miss album release day, but I'm going to be back as soon as I can. As soon as I'm feeling better I'm going to join the guys and carry on with the promotion for the album."
