On Joo Wan was the youngest actor on the set of the recent hit drama "Punch" but that did not prevent him from making friends.
"I took care of everyone and became close to Kim Rae Won by talking about good places to eat," said On Joo Wan in an interview with tenasia.co.kr. "He suffered from a cold at one point, and I told him I could be there for him if he needed someone to come over to take care of him because we live in the same apartment building. Then he said I should call him too if I was ever sick. I get along well with older people and I don't have a lot of younger friends."
But he does make an effort to get along with people, especially with fellow cast members when he's working. He says it's worth the effort to reach out to others because it makes it more comfortable on set.
"You have to spend months in the same space while you are making a drama and that would be hard to do if there was space between us," said On. "I think acting is communicating and that means being able to connect with anyone on set."
On Joo Wan played investigator Lee Ho Sung in "Punch." Lee Ho Seung was a character that started out being an honest and idealistic investigator but slowly became corrupted, so On Ji Wan had to completely transform his character half way through the drama. It was a challenge that he mastered with grace.
At the age of 31 On has been acting for more than 12 years but he still finds there is a lot to learn. And there's also a lot for him to worry about.
"I'll still be nervous in my 30s and 40s," he said. "You never know what's going to happen in life but I'm going to keep going. I might die tomorrow or go bankrupt or make lots of money; you don't know what life has in store for you."
On Joo Wan last appeared on the small screen in the dramas "Surplus Princess" and "The Blade and the Petal." He had his first drama role in the 2002 drama "Rustic Period."
He recently had roles in the films "The Five," and "Obsessed." In 2015 fans can see him in the film "Don't Forget Me" and the time travel film "Time Renegade."
