Looks like a bad news for Wii U owners who are waiting for a new game to buy as the much-awaited "The Legend of Zelda" has been delayed and won't be arriving this year.
Wii U Nintendo said that its much-anticipated new "Legend of Zelda" game won't make its scheduled 2015 release date and the game won't even be showcased at E3 in June.
At the Game Awards this past Dec., Eiji Aonuma, "The Legend of Zelda" producer said that the game would be arriving this year for the Wii U gaming console, Slash Gear noted. Contrary to that announcement, today (March 28), Aonuma announced on the Nintendo's Miiverse gaming website that the game has been delayed and won't be arriving this year.
That said, TechRadar noted there's at least a good reason for not releasing the new Zelda game in 2015 like Nintendo promised. Aonuma went into details about the choice.
The directors alongside the many member of the development team have been working hard developing the game in order to make it the best it can be, Aonuma stated in the video. Unlike any Zelda game to date, the team has experienced firsthand the freedom of exploration in last three months, as a result, they discovered numerous new possibilities for the game.
Aonuma said as the team worked to convert these possibilities into reality, new ideas have continued to spring forth. He added, "it now feels like we have the potential to create something that exceeds even my own expectations."
Aonuma said he would rather focus on making a good game than meeting a strict deadline, and as a result the Wii U's Zelda won't arrive this year. Citing a major overhaul underway, Nintendo of America announced on Twitter that the game won't even appear at E3 2015.
That said, this is a definitely a blow for Wii U owners despite Aonuma's trust in how hard the team is working and how good the upcoming Zelda game will be. Wii U owners have been perpetually waiting for a new game to buy.
This is not the first big Wii U game that has been delayed, and by the looks of it, it seems the challenges of HD development have been a stumbling block in the development of every prime Nintendo game ever since the console came out.
Over that time many great Wii U games have actually been released and the system now has a respectable library of solid Nintendo games, a huge advantage that PS4 and Xbox One obviously lack.
Irrespective of how great the Nintendo NX turns out to be, the damage done to Nintendo's reputation in this time maybe hard to overcome.
