Some k-drama actors don't just express their talent in films or dramas. They also share what they are passionate about by writing books.

Here are five Korean actors who are also authors, including a few bestselling ones.

1. Gu Hye Sun may be the most prolific writer but then she's multi-talented, with directorial efforts and art exhibits to her credit. Her first book, "Tango," was a semi-autobiographical novel about a young woman's experience. It sold 30,000 copies in a week. Her next book, "The Story Behind The Making of Magic" was non-fiction and focused on the making of the film that was her directorial debut. Then she wrote another book, "Peach Tree," which she also made into a film.

2. So Ji Sub is also a multi-talented individual, with a surprising sideline career as a rapper. The book he wrote was a photo essay of his journeys to Korea's DMZ and Gangwon Province. The book covered stories and photos during 13 years of trips and provided some insight into what makes him tick. Ten days after it was printed, it became a bestseller. Because he focused on Gangwon Province, he was named the province's Good will Ambassador. They even named a road after him in 2012. So, if you travel to Gangwon Province, look for So Ji Sub Road.

3. Jang Geun Suk loves to cook so he wrote a book about cooking. "Jang Gun Suk: Love Recipes," published in 2013, featured 20 special recipes that he created himself and also offered a peek into his lifestyle. Although he created the Korean cuisine recipes himself, the book was translated into Japanese and released there. A DVD of Jang Geun Suk cooking was included with the book.

4. Lee Hong Ki also wrote a book about his passion, which is nail art. At first he was reluctant to try nail art but he fell in love with it and sees it as a true art form.

"It was weird at first but now it's a part of me that I can't leave behind."

He loves nail art so much that he spends thousands of dollars every year to decorate his own nails and the beautiful results can be seen in the book.

"I wanted to break the stereotype that it's weird for men to get nail art," said Lee Hong Ki.

His nail art earned him the "Best Men's Nails" award at a Japanese event.

5. The multi-talented Song Joong Ki published a book about health and beauty for men titled "Beautiful Skin Project." In the book he revealed his own skin care secrets. His skin is so luminous that he became the face of Seoul Milk. A version of the book was also released in Japan. Hint: Eat lots of fruit, including at least an apple a day.

So, whether you're looking for a novel to read or some tips on improving the quality of your skin, a k-drama actor may have written just the book for you.
