Sony Mobile has disclosed that another batch of Xperia smartphones are getting an Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
According to Sony Mobile, the latest smartphones to have the Android 5.0 Lollipop update are Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra. The company added that next week, the same update will be rolling out for the Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3, as well as their dual-SIM versions.
"After that, it's the original Xperia Z series; Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z - starting in a few weeks time," said the firm.
To update the device, the phone must have at least 1.2GB of free space in the internal memory. The whole procedure will reportedly take around 20 minutes, according to GSM Arena.
The update is expected to bring new look notifications and a lock screen with fully customizable settings. According to Sony Mobile, the Android 5.0 Lollipop will offer multi-user profiles and a guest mode, which allows users to use their device minus the embellishments.
The update will also bring "Android for Work."
"Not only are business-ready Xperia smartphones and tablets unique devices to work with the waterproof from factors, great battery life and productivity features - they will now also be part of the Android for Work ecosystem," it said.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop update will also highlight better storage control and customization, with the option to easily move the applications from the internal memory to the SD card. The company claims that this feature will give more control over the content and will be specifically useful for devices that have less space.
The International Business Times added that other handsets that are confirmed to receive the update later this year are Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Z Ultra GPE, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z3 Tabelt and Xperia Z2 Tablet.
