Facebook has launched a new dialer app named Hello, which can connect to Facebook. It is now available to Android smartphone users for free.
According to Facebook's website, the Facebook's Hello dialer app allows the user to connect with Facebook so they can see who is calling and can easily block unwanted calls.
"When you get a call, Hello will show you info about who's calling you, even if you don't have that number saved in your phone. You will only see info that people have already shared with you on Facebook," wrote Andrea Vaccari, product manager for Facebook.
"You can also search for people and business on Facebook and call them with just one tap. So if a friend tells you about a new restaurant in your neighbourhood, you can use Hello to find their hours, make a reservation and get directions, all without leaving the app."
In addition, in using the Facebook Hello dialer app, users can block calls. They can go directly to the settings, block the number and adjust if whether they want to automatically block a call from commonly blocked numbers. Also, the blocked calls go directly to voicemail and the user can review it in the recent calls.
The Facebook Hello app is now available for Android users through the Play Store.
However, Phone Arena reported that Facebook did not confirm yet if the said app will be available on the iPhone and Windows phones.
The New Zealand Herald wrote that the Facebook Hello app is currently available in the US, Brazil and Nigeria. Also, the said application is the "seventh child of Facebook Creative Labs, the company's arm tasked with creating new applications outside of Facebook." These include Riff, a creative tool to make videos with friends, and the news-reading app Paper.
