Lee Jun Ki was not the only actor injured recently on the set of "The Scholar Who Walks The Night." The actor fractured his nose so badly that it required surgery and is resting to recover. He is expected to return to the set in a matter of days but his co-star Lee Yoo Bi may not be so lucky.
Actress Lee Yoo Bi also suffered a back injury when she fell while filming the same scene with Lee Jun Ki. She was admitted to the hospital and is receiving treatment.
On June 10 her agency, Sidus HQ announced that due to her injury she was temporarily unable to walk.
"Lee Yoo Bi was injured yesterday during filming, after falling with Lee Jun Ki," said the Sidus representative. "She is unable to walk right now because her lower back is hurting, which is why she was admitted to a hospital."
The actress is suffering from a herniated lumbar disc, which requires inpatient care.
"The hospital has suggested that she stay hospitalized for about one to two weeks. However, due to filming schedules, she has decided to focus solely on recovering for two to three days with medicine treatment. While she will try to return as soon as possible, we plan to check on her progress after focusing on treatment."
The agency representative said that while the injuries do require both actors to rest and will curtail filming this week, it will not delay the drama's air date. Many scenes were filmed ahead of time.
"The first broadcast will air as scheduled."
It's not the first on-set injury for Lee Jun Ki, who injured his leg while rehearsing for his 2014-15 Lee Jun Ki Asia Tour Together and required 50 stitches to his forehead for an injury sustained while rehearsing for the musical "Voyage of Life" in 2010." Lee Jun Ki also sustained more than one injury while he was filming the 2008 historical drama "Iljimae."
But it may be a first on-set injury for Lee Yoo Bi, who began her acting career with the 2011 sitcom "Vampire Idol." She plays her first leading role, as a cross-dressing bookseller, in "The Scholar Who Walks The Night." She recently appeared in the drama "Pinocchio," with Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye, as well as the films 'The Royal Tailor" with Park Shin Hye, and "Twenty," with Kim Woo Bin.
We wish both stars a speedy recovery.
