"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 spoilers revealed that the coming episodes will focus on Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy's (Mayim Bialik) relationship. In a recent interview, the actress shared that the two might not have actually broken up, contrary to what the viewers saw in the season 8 finale.
In an interview with Gold Derby, "The Big Bang Theory" star Mayim Bialik explained that Sheldon and Amy, also known as ShAmy, have not actually ended their relationship. She revealed that her character only needed time to figure out where they were heading.
"I don't know if I consider it breaking up. The writers were very specific with the language that they used," she shared.
"Amy needed some time, she needed to step back. The way I see it, this is a sense of breathing space and the relationship allows for that."
In the season 10 finale, titled "The Commitment Determination," fans were surprised to see that Sheldon was planning to propose to Amy. Bialik revealed that even the cast members were stunned when they found out about the plot twist.
"When we did the table read, we were shocked. Everybody gasped. It is powerful," she said.
Meanwhile, fans of "BBT" have long wondered if Sheldon has been suffering from autism. During a panel interview on Star Talk, Bialik tried to put the rumors to rest.
"All of our characters are in theory on the neuropsychiatric spectrum," she revealed.
"Sheldon often gets talked about in terms of Asperger's or OCD. He has a thing with germs, he has a thing with numbers, he's got a lot of that precision that we see in OCD."
"There's a lot of interesting features to all of our characters that make them technically unconventional socially."
"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 premieres this fall on CBS.
