Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have been friends for years now. But is their common love for music and aspiration to be the best in their craft getting in the way of their friendship?

According to Hollywood Life, Selena Gomez' new single "Good For You" has just stolen the number one spot on iTunes, surpassing Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood." With Taylor Swift being one of the most successful hit makers in the music industry, it is an honor for Selena Gomez to beat her bestie for the top spot on iTunes.

At around the same time she beat Taylor on iTunes, Selena Gomez also made an impersonation of Taylor Swift in the iHeartRadio studio as she promoted her new single. Selena imitated Taylor's "trademark dramatic hair flip and audience point" according to Seventeen magazine.

Does this indicate a brewing rivalry between the BFFs? Is Selena's impersonation of Taylor actually a mockery? Are Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez turning from besties to frienemies?

It seems that competition is farthest thing from the minds of the two music artists. In fact, it has been previously reported that Taylor Swift has been helping Selena Gomez in writing new material.

"Taylor is such a prolific songwriter and strong woman," a source reportedly told Hollywood Life. "She has really had a profound impact on Selena. She encouraged Selena to make an effort to write more of her own songs. Taylor thinks it's so important for young artists to take ownership of their music and not let record labels decide what their sound is going to be. She only wants the best for Selena."

"Taylor has sat down with Selena a few times to talk about the writing process," the source reportedly added. "Despite all her success, Taylor never comes across as arrogant or like a know-it-all. She just suggested a few things that helped her along the way and now Selena has incorporated them into her music."
