On June 10 the Korean media reported that both Lee Jun Ki and Lee Yu Bi had been injured on the set of their upcoming drama "The Scholar Who Walks The Night."
Both actors were sent to the hospital to have their injuries treated and had to take a break from their filming schedule.
Lee Jun Ji fractured his nose and required surgery, while Lee Yu Bi suffered a back injury when filming the same scene.
The back injury left Lee Yu Bi temporarily unable to walk. Her agency, Sidus HQ, revealed that the actress suffered from a herniated lumbar disc, which required inpatient care and a long period of rest.
"She is unable to walk right now because her lower back is hurting, which is why she was admitted to a hospital," sad the Sidus HQ representative.
Lee Jun Ki returned to the set on June 18. And fortunately, Lee Yu Bi is also feeling better. She is expected to return to the set on June 25. She wanted to return to the set a few days after the injury but her medical team advised against it, recommending a two-week rest period.
Agency representatives stressed that while the actors did take a break from filming it will not delay the drama's airdate as many of the scenes were filmed ahead of time.
"The first broadcast will air as scheduled."
It was not the first on-set injury for Lee Jun Ki, who in the past has called his drama scars badges of honor. But it may be the first for Lee Yoo Bi, who made her acting debut in the 2011 sitcom "Vampire Idol."
She will deal with vampires again in "The Scholar Who Walks The Night." Only this time it is Joseon era vampires. Lee Yu Bi plays a girl who must disguise herself as a male bookseller so she can earn money to feed her family. Lee Jun Ki plays the mysterious night scholar and vampire that she falls for.
Lee Yu Bi recently appeared in "Pinocchio," with Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye, as well as the films 'The Royal Tailor" with Park Shin Hye, and "Twenty," with Kim Woo Bin.
Lee Jun Ki recently had a hit drama with "The Joseon Gunman" and before that starred in the thriller 'Two Weeks."
Let's hope there are no more accidents during the rest of the filming for "The Scholar Who Walks The Night."
