On July 4, legal representatives for K-pop vocalist and actor Kim Hyun Joong confirmed that he was pursuing a countersuit against his former girlfriend.

According to a report published by the Korean outlet OSEN, Kim would pursue legal action against his former partner, who has been anonymously referred to as Choi or A. Kim is allegedly seeking more than $1 million USD (3.1 billion KRW) for breach of contract and defamation of character, after the on-going legal battle.

"Prior to next week, we will file a complaint against Choi, said a legal representative for Kim. "She previously received a settlement of approximately $535,000 USD to refrain from disclosing information to outside parties."

The representative went on to explain the SS501 member's justification for claims against his ex-girlfriend. "She violated the conditions of the settlement, therefore we are suing for breach of contract," said a member of Kim's legal team. In addition, [she will be sued] for another 600 million KRW ($535,000 USD) for defamation after claiming that Kim Hyun Joong assaulted her."

This news comes on the heels of a previous report where his ex-girlfriend announced her pregnancy due date as September 12. According to his legal representative, the decision to counter sue has been precipitated by lack of evidence regarding her allegations that she previously sustained a miscarriage due to injuries that were caused by the alleged assault.

Meanwhile, Kim Hyun Joong continues to serve within the military, as his legal battle ensues.
