Former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland will appear in "Empire" season 2 in flashbacks, according to the latest spoilers for the Fox series. Meanwhile, veteran actress Marisa Tomei will also join the cast in a recurring role.

According to "Empire" season 2 spoilers from Deadline, Marisa Tomei will "play Mimi Whiteman, a demanding venture capitalist who becomes involved in Lyon family drama. A Forbes list billionairess, Mimi is a lover of hip hop music, social trends, high-end fashion and beautiful women."

Season 2 of "Empire" will have an impressive guest list which includes, Alicia Keys, Chris Rock and Lenny Kravitz. In the pilot season, Naomi Campbell was cast in a recurring role while Jennifer Hudson, Snoop Dogg, Courtney Love and Gladys Knight also made an appearance.

Meanwhile, spoilers from E! News reveal that Kelly Rowland will join the cast of "Empire" season 2.

She will play in the flashback as Lucious Lyon's mother.

"During season 1, Empire often featured scenes from Terrence Howard's character's past, which shows and his feisty now-ex-wife Cookie Lyon, played by Taraji P. Henson, during harder times before they built their powerful music empire," the article said.

Kelly Rowland's casting didn't come as a surprise because the former Destiny's Child member was seen hanging out with the writers of the show last month.

Loosely based on the play written by James Goldman, titled "The Lion in Winter," the Fox series tells the story of Lucious Lyon, a successful music mogul who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS, a neurodegenerative disease affecting the brain and spinal cord.

With the disease, Lucious will now choose who among his three sons will succeed him in running after the empire.

Watch out for more "Empires" season 2 spoilers which will be published here when they become available ahead of the airing date on Sept. 23, 2015.
