Several reports claim that more standalone “Superman” movies will be released in the future. It has been revealed that “Man of Steel” star Henry Cavill will reprise his role in the highly anticipated “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” movie, as well as two other upcoming “Justice League” films.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Henry Cavill confirmed that DC is set to release more "Superman" movies in the future.
"There's plenty of time for individual Superman sequels," the actor said.
"He's a tough character to tell. People like the darker vigilante. I think it speaks to the human psyche more easily rather than the god-like being that we can't really understand. Once we have a more expansive universe we can delve more into the character of Superman and hopefully tell more stories."
Speaking to Empire Online, Henry Cavill also explained that the coming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie should be viewed by fans as a standalone film and not a follow-up to any of the previous Batman or Superman movies.
"I wouldn't call this a Superman sequel," he said.
"This is Batman versus Superman, so it's a separate entity altogether. It's introducing the Batman character, and expanding upon the universe that was kicked off by Man Of Steel."
The actor, however, was quick to add that anything can change during the duration of editing the film.
"Again, everything can change in the editing room. But, as it stands, it's definitely an introduction of the Batman character and, ultimately, the introduction of the Justice League films."
Latinos Post also reported that Warner Bros. had confirmed that there are actual plans to release solo films for both Batman and Superman. The release date, however, has yet to be confirmed. It was speculated that the next standalone film will be released in 2020.
