The upcoming MBC drama, "Princess Aurora" has added a new member to its cast and it's an actress you may not know much about.
Actress Jung Joo Yeon has signed on to play the lead role of a newspaper reporter, Park Hi Yeong. The reporter, who covers primarily beauty topics, will become the rival of a fellow female reporter, Oh Rora, played by Jeon So Min. They will compete for both exclusive news stories and the drama's love interest.
This will be the first lead role for actress and model Jung Joo Yeon, although she previously had small roles in two films. She played the character Ching Ching in the 2012 film, "China Blue," a film that starred Baek Seong Hyeon. She also played a schoolgirl on the beach in "Hearty Paws 2." And she appeared in Epik High's music video, "Follow Me."
Her newspaper rival in the drama, Jeon So Min has appeared in the KBS2 dramas, "Yeongdeok Women's Wrestling Team" and "I'm Glad I Loved You."
The new drama series was written by veteran drama writer Im Seong Han. The writer responsible for "Miss Mermaid," "Lady Ah Hyun" "New Gisaeng Story" and "Love in Heaven" is well known for using relatively unknown actresses in lead roles. The writer's most recent drama, "New Gisaeng Story," also used several relatively unknown actors, Im Soo Hyang Jung Hoon, and Baek Ok Dam. The actors were so unknown that the drama producers did not even schedule a press conference with them, fearing that interest would be low and no one would turn out.
Also appearing in "Princess Aurora" is the actor Oh Chang Suk who previously appeared in the KBS2 series, "Love, My Love" in 2012, the OCN series, "Ten" in 2011, and the SBS series, "Athena: Goddess of War" in 2010. He will play the male lead, although there is yet no information available about his character.
The show will first be aired on the 20th of May. It has the same name as a 2005 film.
