On July 15, the Korean outlet Daily Sports reported that actress and model, Clara (Clara Lee) could seek civil suit charges against her former CEO, Lee Kyu Tae.
"It is in the hands of the prosecution, who often seek civil proceedings in Clara-type events," said a legal representative for Clara. "A criminal case is important, but civil litigation is also important."
This follows news that Clara was cleared of alleged blackmail charges involving Lee, the CEO of Il Gwang Gong Yeong Group, a subsidiary of Polaris Entertainment, which was responsible for managing the career of the 30-year-old actress. While Clara would no longer face charges, the prosecution is allegedly charging Lee with blackmail, after claims that he threatened the actress.
According to an article published by the outlet, CC Today, Clara would no longer face blackmail charges in the contentious case, which began in October 2014. Clara faced blackmail charges, after attempting to end her contact with Il Gwang/Polaris Entertainment, following claims that the CEO had sexually harassed her through various mediums, including text messages.
CC Today published the alleged messages which led Clara to face blackmail charges. "You cannot keep the agreement because I felt sexual shame," said the alleged text message from Clara. "If you do not cancel the contract, I will call the police."
During the proceedings, it was revealed that the CEO may have harassed Clara on several occasions. Meanwhile, he is in the midst of prosecution and is also facing charges of arms smuggling and political lobbying.
