Rob Kardashian has been avoiding the limelight for months now amid purportedly struggling with issues including depression, substance abuse and weight management.

In some of the episodes of the latest season of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," momager Kris Jenner and his sisters have been chronicled trying to convince the only Kardashian brother to seek help and go back to his normal life.

Despite their efforts, Rob Kardashian allegedly remained to avoid his family and friends, only going out of the house at night and keeping a low-profile.

But has the news about Kourtney Kardashian's split with Scott Disick pushed Rob Kardashian to step up, get out of his comfort zone, and play the role of a father figure to his sister's kids?

Hollywood Life reported the news of Rob posting a photo of his niece, Penelope Disick, on July 15.

Rob posted an Instagram photo of Kourtney and Scott's second child wearing a crop top, sheer skirt, silver necklace, a pair of shades, with her hair up in a bun. "Hey P!!!! lol she think she so cool. I LOVE HER!!!!" Rob Kardashian captioned the photo.

It reportedly seems that Rob Kardashian has been showering his niece and nephews with love in the wake of their parents' split. This is good news for the kids, especially since an insider dished out that Scott Disick allegedly hasn't seen his kids in a long while.

"It's heartbreaking because Scott has not seen his kids in over a month at this point," an insider said. "They ask him during every phone call 'when are you coming home daddy?'"

The worse news is, it doesn't seem like Kourtney Kardashian is open to talk with Scott Disick in the wake of their messy split.

"When he calls, she often just hands the phone to Mason without saying a word to him. If Scott came back he wouldn't be able to see her without an appointment."
