Longtime friends falling in love might become a popular k-drama plot trend. Ha Ji Won and Lee Jin Wook wonder whether a man and woman can truly be friends in the drama "The Time I Loved You." And now So Ji Sub and Shin Min Ah will play a man and a woman with a long history of friendship in the drama titled "Oh My God."
So Ji Sub's agency, 51K, and Shin Min Ah's agency, O&, recently confirmed that the actors were cast in the romantic comedy.
What's different about this drama is that the childhood friends, who meet up again during adulthood, go on a diet together.
Sharing the trials and tribulations of dieting is an interesting way to bring a couple closer together. Viewers will have to judge how well it works or whether it is possible to make them look even slightly pudgy or unhealthy. But one thing we can be sure of is that these actors looked great together in the past.
The actors appeared in a commercial together in 2013 and drew positive comments on what an attractive couple they made. They modeled as a couple for the clothing brand Giordano for two years. The 2013 commercial that provoked many comments involved a passionate kiss in the desert. Stills for that commercial were shared and commented on across the web and might have led directors to think they were a promising k-drama couple.
Neither actor has been in a drama since 2013, so their new rom-com can be considered a small screen comeback.
So Ji Sub last appeared on the small screen playing the shopping mall chaebol in the SBS drama "The Master's Sun." He was the only man whose touch could stop his co-star Gong Hyo Jin from seeing ghosts. He did appear in the web drama "One Sunny Day" for LINE and had a cameo in "Warm and Cozy," reviving his "The Master's Sun" character.
Meanwhile Shin Min Ah played the ghost in the 2012 MBC drama "Arang and the Magistrate." She pestered Lee Jun Ki until he would help her accomplish her goals. While she has not been in a drama since then, she did appear in three films, "X." "Geongju," and "My Love, My Bride."
What crazy methods will their k-drama characters use to lose weight? And of course there is the bigger question? Why do two such beautiful slender actors need to lose weight? Will their characters wear fat suits in this drama?
It should be interesting. And it will be nice to see these actors in a drama again.
