Jared Leto has reportedly been very serious in internalizing his character as The Joker in "Suicide Squad."
According to What Culture, Jared Leto stayed in character throughout the filming of "Suicide Squad." Because of this, his dedication to the character is somehow compared to that of Heath Ledger when he starred in "The Dark Knight."
"This type of method acting isn't really all that strange, but to stay in character as someone so utterly deranged and evil as The Joker can't be easy for either Leto or his co-stars, a fact pointed out by Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) in a recent interview," What Culture reported.
"He confirmed that since filming began, he hasn't once seen Leto out of character, meaning that he's obviously been left very isolated as he gives his all to transform himself into the iconic Batman villain."
According to MTV, Jared Leto has been a very sensitive colleague that he made efforts to compensate for his absence from the set - the only catch is that, the gifts were from The Joker and not from Jared.
"First, the entire cast was sent a video from Leto in character, along with a dead hog," Victoria McNally wrote in her MTV article.
"Then, Will Smith got his own personal note with a bullet enclosed. And Margot Robbie, who plays the Joker's companion Harley, received a 'nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it - a live rat.'"
Did Jared Leto scare everyone on "Suicide Squad" too much that their Director David Ayer was pushed to hire a therapist on set?
According to E! Online, David Ayer indeed called a therapist on board - not exclusively for Jared Leto, but for the entire "Suicide Squad" cast.
"David Ayer is about realism," Adam Beach, who plays Slipnot in the film, told Marc Malkin of E!.
"So if your character is tormented, he wants you to torment yourself. He wants the real thing ... We kind of have like a therapist on board if you fall off the wagon and really are villainous. There's a friend of [Ayer's] that's very unique in making sure we have our ground."
