Two popular idol actors are preparing to enlist this year. And they will do so by serving as conscripted policeman.

Max Changmin, currently starring in "The Scholar Who Walks The Night" and Choi Si Won, who will soon appear in the drama "She Was Pretty," are planning to fulfill their military duty this year.

According to the Korean media outlet TV Report, both singer-actors have passed the entrance exam for conscripted policemen. Serving as policeman is an alternative way to fulfill the two years of mandatory military enlistment required by Korean males, 18 to 35.

On July 30 SM announced that Choi Si Won would enlist this year this year but did not specify how he would serve. On August 6, an SM Entertainment representative told the TV Report that Super Junior member Choi had passed the entrance exam for the police department and will work in the technical department.

"We have not been informed of his enlistment date yet. He is scheduled to enlist this year."

Choi has signed on for a role in the drama "She Was Pretty," which begins on Sept. 16 and will run for 20 episodes. In that drama, which also stars Hwang Jung Eum and Park Seo Joon, Choi will play the role of Shin Hyuk, a fashion magazine editor. According to SM, he will enlist after the end of the drama.

Choi will be the seventh Super Junior member to enlist in the military. Shin Dong and Sung Min are currently enlisted, while four members, Kang In, Ye Sung, Hee Chul and Lee Teuk, have already completed their tour of duty.

TVXQ member and actor Max Changmin also passed the test for the police department technical division and the two are expected to serve as conscripted policemen during a similar time period.

Max Changmin, whose real name is Shim Chang Min, currently plays Crown Prince Lee Yoon in the historical vampire drama titled "Scholar Who Walks The Night." That drama is expected to end on September 10. He has also recently been active with promotions for Super Junior's "Devil."

Fellow TVXQ member Yunho is also expected to enlist this year and will serve as an active duty soldier.
