The departure of CNBLUE's Jong Hyun and actress Gong Seungyeon from "We Got Married," has been met with mixed reaction. The couple evolved into fan favorites after Song Jae Rim and Kim So Eun left from the show, to pursue increased activities in the acting world.
2015 has been a tough year for the virtual relationship show, "We Got Married." The program, which was first broadcast in 2008, endured several casting changes in 2015. Model-turned-actor Hong Jong Hyun and Yura of Girl's Day departed from the show, after dating allegations involving other members of Korean entertainment.
Super Junior-M's Henry and former Jewelry member Yewon joined "We Got Married," after the departure of Yura, Hong Jong Hyun, Namgoong Min and Hong Jin Young. However, Henry and Yewon had a short tenure on "We Got Married," which expired after 13-episodes. The couple was cut from the show following a scandal involving actress Lee Tae Im, in which claims that were made by Lee were substantiated through leaked footage from their appearance on the show, "My Tutor Friend."
"We Got Married" operates on the premise that fans are interested in watching the virtual relationships of their favorite stars. However, the show could be obsolete, as real-life power couples like Lee Min Ho and Suzy are revealed to the public. The lines between reality and fiction are blurred, but cast members face scandal or possible expulsion when upon suspicion that they are dating other partners, in real-life. As Korean celebrities continue to reveal their actual relationships, "We Got Married" could be an antiquated relic of the past.
