The first season of the reality show "Three Meals A Day: Fishing Village" had to make some last minute casting changes when Jang Geun Suk dropped out of the cast. Actor Son Ho Joon joined Cha Seung Won and Yoo Hae Jin in serving up three meals a day from scratch with ingredients available on Manjae Doo Island where the "Three Meals A Day" spin-off was set.
The survival cooking show spin off did well with ratings reaching as high as 14.2 percent. So a second season was planned. But again the casting was complicated and required some last minute adjustments. Son Ho Joon was expected to return for a second season but he is currently busy playing a detective on the drama "Mrs. Cop," which co-stars Kim Hee Ae. He may return to the reality show after the drama ends, but nothing is certain yet.
According to the Korean media outlet OSEN, Cha Seung Won and Yoo Hae Jin will travel to the remote island in September. Only this time they may be traveling with ZE:A member and actor Park Hyung Sik.
Some reports suggested that Park Hyung Sik would replace Son Ho Joon altogether. On Aug. 31, the show's producers, CJ E&M, clarified the casting choice. The producers announced that Park Hyung Sik would start out as a guest but also said that his role could change.
"Park Hyung Sik will be making a guest appearance. Whether he′ll be a regular member hasn′t been decided."
It is a long way to go for a guest appearance as it takes several hours to get to the island by boat. Because the actors on this show have other commitments, the show films for a few days at a time every few weeks. Park will appear on the program at least until Son Ho Joon's scheduling conflicts are resolved.
Park Hyung Sik recently attracted attention with his role as a chaebol in love with a poor girl in "High Society," but he is no stranger to reality shows. He appeared on "Real Men" and "Rules of the Jungle."
Cha Seung Won also balanced the program with other commitments this year as he appeared in the 50-episode drama "Hwajeong," aka "Splendid Politics." Yoo Hae Jin has been busy with promotions for his box office hit film "Veteran."
The second season of "Three Meals A Day: Fishing Village" will premiere in October.
