Last month, a search warrant had been served at "KISS" bassist Gene Simmons' Beverly Hills home. The Los Angeles Police Department had searched his home to trace an offender, who had downloaded child pornography using the star's internet connection.
Gene admitted that he was dumbstruck when he saw the officers' march towards his L.A. mansion. But, they assured the bassist for "Kiss" Gene Simmons that they were not investigating him or his family.
Since, the officers had learnt that the residents of the house were away while the offence took place, neither Gene nor his family members were being considered as the suspects.
In an interview during "Kiss" Australian tour, Simmons had recollected the events of the day when the cops searched his Beverly Hills home. He recounted that the Simmons family had returned from a hiking tour, when a few officers from the Los Angeles Police Department asked for Simmons' permission to come in and search the house.
Being a law abiding citizen, the "Kiss" bassist let the officers in. After checking the place, the cops explained the cause of the search to Gene Simmons.
Policemen said a few "bad" people were using Gene's Internet connection to download child pornography. This occurred a year ago.
According to News.com.au, the cops had checked Mr. Simmons' alibi. Gene reportedly said he was touring the East Coast, while his wife and kids were out of the country.
He admitted to his lack of tech savvy. He said that the FBI agents had helped him put up a firewall to beef up his internet security.
"Kiss" bassist Gene Simmons is still not sure if the offender was inside their mansion, or had infiltrated his wireless network from outside. "Because you can be right outside of somebody's home...," the "Kiss" band member said.
He added, "If you have the (network) information you can actually do stuff right outside the home, like on the street."
"I have no idea (who did it)," the rock star said.
