Actress Han Hye Jin and Swansea City soccer player Ki Sung Yung have set the date. They will marry on July 1 in a ceremony at the Intercontinental Hotel in Seoul.
The wedding will be simple and private.
"We decided to rent wedding clothes and exchange only wedding rings," said Han. "We chose a wedding hall that could accommodate a lot of people, but it will be far from a luxurious wedding."
The couple met two years ago at a charity football match in Vietnam. They began dating in January and only went public with their relationship in March, announcing plans to marry in May. She is 31. Ki, who is widely considered to be one of the best South Korean soccer players, is 24.
"It is true that the decision to marry was made very recently," said Han. "I sometimes feel suffocated due to the many rumors about us, but we have consoled each other by saying we should never forget what's most precious."
While her agency Namoo Actors says that one reason for setting the date was to prevent rumors, Han says it is a practical consideration.
"Ki can only make time for our wedding during his vacation," said Han. "If we miss our chance this year, we will have to wait until next year, so we thought this would be the best time since the next football season is so important to him."
Despite the rush, Han wants her fans to know how seriously she takes her vows.
"We have promised to become the kind of married couple which nothing and no one can break apart," she announced via Twitter.
Joshua Kim, the pastor at Seoul's Dream Church, will perform the wedding rites and the Yangpa will sing at the ceremony.
The couple has no immediate plans for a honeymoon but it will probably take place in England, as Ki has to return there for training the day after the wedding.
Han will complete filming her part in the movie, "When A Man Loves A Woman," and wrap up her hosting responsibilities on the variety show "Healing Camp" before joining her husband. It has not been decided how long a leave she will take from "Healing Camp."
Han is best known for her role as the young widow Na Geum Soon in the hit daily drama "Be Strong Geum Soon." She played Jumong, the first Korean female doctor of Western medicine, in "Jejungwoon" and sports shooter Shim Mi Jin in the film "26 Years."
