The producer of the highly successful "High Kick" sitcom trilogy has announced that he is ready for a comeback. Producer Kim Byung Wook has a new comedy in mind and the 120-episode sitcom will be shown on the tvN cable channel.
So far, there is no word on what the plot will be but fans of his High Kick series are very excited about the entertaining possibilities. The High Kick Series was so popular that episodes were added by viewer demand. The series also launched the careers of many favorite kdrama actors.
In case you missed any part of the series, here's a brief summary of the three comedy plots and some of the actors who performed in them.
"Unstoppable High Kick" focused on two brothers and their family's interactions. The older brother Lee Yoon Ho, played by Jung Il Woo, is a motorcycle fanatic who fights at school and is known for his high kick. His younger brother Lee Min Ho, played by Kim Hye Sung, likes to build models. Their father, played by Jung Joon Ha is a reckless investor, their mother, played by Park Hae Mi, is a doctor. They also live with a money-loving grandfather, a grandmother who quarrels with their mom, and their single-father uncle. Also appearing in this comedy were Lee Soon Jae, Na Moon Hee, Choi Min Young and Shin Ji. The series ran from 2006 to 2007.
Next, "High Kick Through the Roof" tells the story of two sisters who work as maids after their father runs away. Shin Se Kyung and Shin Shin Ae play the sisters. Fresh from the country, they are awed by everything they find in the wealthy home they work in. The series also stars Choi Daniel, Oh Hyun Kyung, Jung Bo Suk, Yoon Shi Yoon, Yoo In Na, Baek Seung Hee, Julien Kang and Jin Ji Hee. The series ran from 2009 to 2010. There were cameo appearances by Jung Il Woo, Kim Bum and Park Shin Hye.
"High Kick 3: Revenge of the Short Legged" ran from 2011 to 2012. It focused on Ahn Nae Sang and Yoon Yoo Sun, a middle-aged husband and wife. Financial difficulties force the couple to move in with family and then the real problems start. The series starred Suh Ji Suk, Lee Jong Suk, Kim Hyun Soo and Krystal Jung.
With such a long history of success, Kim Byung Wook's fans will eagerly await word on the new sitcom and be eager to see which actors are cast.
