"Divergent" series, adopted from author Veronica Roth's novel of the same name has just made a major change to YA book-to-film adaptation titling. The earlier two films in the "Divergent" series were before named: "Allegiant: Part 1," and "Allegiant: Part 2."
According to MTV, the re-titling makes "Allegiant: Part 1" to "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" and "The Divergent Series: Ascendants." MTV even broke the news for "Divergent" series fans and revealed the new titles and posters of the two upcoming movies.
"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" - Break The Boundaries of Your World
"The Divergent Series: Ascendants" - The End Is Never What You Expect
Fans from the YA series have no idea what it means. Even Hypable noted that author Roth sounded a bit uncertain. She communicated to her fans about the recent changes in the titling:
"What does this mean? Well, basically, it means there are going to be some changes, but it's really too early to know exactly what those changes will be or the extent of them. I know changes always make fans of the books - and the author! - nervous, but hopefully the characters we know (and love. Or sometimes love to hate?) will still be intact, which is really the important thing. I am eager to see how these movies turn out, along with you guys." Roth said.
Well, the re-tilting would not make "Divergent" book fans very happy as, "Allegiant: Part 1" and "Allegiant: Part 2" clearly indicated towards suggestive alternative ending by fans of "Divergent" movies.
The tagline of "The Divergent Series: Ascendants" expresses the same with "The End Is Never What You Expect." "Divergent" and MTV's official Twitter accounts also confirmed the news and promises the fans that with the two new films they are going to bring a new expanded new world.
Tris' death saddened the book fans and "Divergent" movie fans has expected of an alternative ending to "The Divergent Series: Ascendants." If Tris' stays alive then so many things can happen. Like, Tris and Four might get married and have kids! "Divergent" novel fans are just happy that the new title is not "Tris and Four Happily Live Ever After!"
