People are talking about the new drama "I Hear Your Voice" and the conversation often focuses on the quickly escalating ratings.

The 16-episode SBS drama, which began airing last week, already has viewer ratings in the double digits, beating out an existing KBS drama, "Heaven's Order," and another new MBC drama "The Queen's Classroom." Ratings for this week's episodes ranged between 15 and 16 percent.

"I Hear Your Voice" combines courtroom drama and romantic comedy with a dash of the supernatural.

The cast is appealing. Lee Bo Young plays Jang Hye Sung, a jaded lawyer, who sees only dollar signs when considering cases.

Fortunately, her approach to life is challenged when she meets two people. One is a schoolboy named Park Soo Ha, played by Lee Jong Suk. Park Soo Ha can read people's thoughts just by looking into their eyes and that's a big plus when it comes to solving cases.

"Two types of sounds exist in my world," Park says about his supernatural gift. "The first are the sounds that everyone can hear. And the other are the sounds only I can hear."

Park Soo Ha gained his paranormal ability after his father was murdered. A high school girl, Hye Sung, played by Kim So Hyun, testified at the inquiry even though it put her in danger. Then she disappeared and Park Soo Ha has searched for her without any success.

The other person who changes Jang Hye Sung's life is Cha Gwan Soo, played by Yoon Sang Hyun. He's an upbeat lawyer, who was once a cop. His idealism initially irritates her but she comes to like him.

According to Lee Bo Young, her character is a woman who chooses a law career to make money, but Park Soo Ha's revelations promote a change of heart and help her mature.

"Because the drama incorporates fantasy elements, I'm trying to keep my acting style more relaxed and natural," said Lee Bo Young.

Yoon Sang Hyun says he likes his character, a guy that can be described as a little nerdy.

"He may seem a bit slow but he's a nice guy and pleasant, with principles and a strong sense of justice," said Yoon

Lee described his character as a lovable loser.

"He's maybe not everyone's idea of a dream guy but he is appealing," said Lee.

And given the ratings, so is this drama.
