Fall 2015 is dominated by action-packed series and period dramas. Series such as "Six Flying Dragons" mark the K-Drama return of actors like Yoo Ah In, who continues to be praised for his film role in "Veteran."

While romantic comedies tend to rule the airwaves, the success of "Yong Pal" proves that there is a desire for programming that attracts a wide-range of viewers. Cable network jTBC intends to cash in on the absence of action dramas with the disaster series, "D-Day."

"D-Day" stars Kim Young Kwak as Lee Hae Sung, a doctor who is thrust into aiding survivors when a disaster strikes. The actor trades in the milk toast sweetness of "Pinocchio" to take on a meaty role in the series, which premiered on September 18.

"The Merchant: Gaekju 2015" marks the return of Jang Hyuk, following the success of the period series, "Shine or Go Crazy." The actor, who gained attention from international audiences with his role in "Fated to Love You," takes on another period role in the upcoming series. He portrays Cheon Bong Sam, a man who transcends his position to become a successful merchant.

"The Merchant: Gaekju 2015" premieres on KBS2 on September 23. The drama will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the 10 p.m. KST time slot previously occupied by "Assembly."

Yoo Ah In makes his small screen comeback in SBS' period drama, "Six Flying Dragons." He portrays Prince Lee Bang Won, a royal whose conflict with Jung Do Jeon (Kim Myung Min) is instrumental with aiding King Taejo (Chun Ho Jin) in establishing the Joseon empire.

Byun Yo Han, who led the cast of "Ex-Girlfriend Club," returns to drama as Ddang Sae, the bodyguard of Jung Do Jeon.

"Six Flying Dragons" premieres on October 5. The series will air on Mondays and Tuesdays in the 11 p.m. KST time slot.

Other notable K-Drama comebacks include Joo Sang Wook in the upcoming series, "Glamorous Temptation" and Lee Dong Wook in "Bubblegum."
