Han Hye Jin is married. It was only last month that the star admitted she was seeing Swansea City soccer player Ki Sung Yueng and planned to marry him in a simple ceremony on July 1.
The private ceremony will go on as planned. But the couple has already registered the marriage so legally they are man and wife. They got their license after taking their wedding photos.
When the actress revealed her plans to marry last month, she admitted that the decision was prompted partly by troubling rumors. Some of those rumors accused her of two-timing her ex-boyfriend singer Naul
"I sometimes felt suffocated by the rumors circulating about us, but we consoled each other by saying we should never forget what's most precious," said Han.
On June 24, the actress resigned as emcee of the show "Healing Camp. She appeared as a guest and answered questions about her love story. She cleared up the two-timing rumors, saying she broke up with Naul last summer and they remain friends. She only began dating Ki Sung Yueng after her father's funeral.
"Ki Sung Yueng called me after my father passed away and the wreath he sent my family caught my eye," said Han, 31.
Later on he said that he was touched that she responded to his gestures. He asked her out and was scared that she might reject him. She didn't.
"I was so thankful that she took my hand," said Ki, 24, who is widely considered to be one of the best South Korean soccer players.
The couple first met two years ago at the Doosan Asian Dream Cup, a charity football match in Vietnam. They met once more when Ki Sung Yueng was a guest on "Healing Camp" in August 2012. They began dating in January.
While one reason for setting the date so quickly was to prevent rumors, Han says it is also a practical consideration.
"Ki can only make time for our wedding during his vacation," said Han. "If we miss our chance this year, we will have to wait until next year, so we thought this would be the best time since the next football season is so important to him."
Han plans to complete filming "When A Man Loves A Woman" before joining her husband in England, where he plays for an English team.
Han is known for her role as the young widow Na Geum Soon in the drama "Be Strong Geum Soon." She played Jumong, the first Korean female doctor of Western medicine, in "Jejungwoon" and sports shooter Shim Mi Jin in the film "26 Years."
