"Fifty Shades of Grey" actress Dakota Johnson confirmed her breakup with her rocker boyfriend, Matthew Hitt.

During a guesting stint at The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the talk show host asked Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith's daughter if she is in a relationship.

Dakota Johnson replied, "no" before giving an awkward laughter.

But Ellen DeGeneres appears to pursue the line of questioning as she said, "So is it harder for guys, are guys scared of you? Or do you notice a difference in guys approaching or not approaching you?"

"You mean like when they run away from me?" she answered.

"I don't know," she continued. "I guess that if those are the two options, I guess they're scared of me. They either love me or they're running for the hills."

The breakup news was fairly as it was reported that Matthew Hitt and Dakota Johnson got back together in May after breaking up prior to the release date of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" on Valentine's Day this year.

The breakup also didn't help quell rumors about Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan sparking romance on the set of "Fifty Shades of Grey."

When the actor was filming the sexy scenes with Dakota Johnson, his wife reportedly had a jealous fit. There were also rumors about Jamie Dornan and Matthew Hitt's girlfriend hooking up while filming "Fifty Shades of Grey."

While that rumor proved untrue, Jamie Dornan did admit that he was wary about his wife watching the erotic film considering the number of sexy scenes.

With the breakup from boyfriend Matthew Hitt, Dakota Johnson can now busy herself with her career. Speaking of "Fifty Shades of Grey," for instance, the actress revealed during the Ellen DeGeneres Show that they will start filming towards the end of the year.

However, Dakota Johnson can be seen next in Black Mass, a biopic about mobster Whitey Bulger played by Johnny Depp.
