Android users have a reason to rejoice as Android Marshmallow 6.0 or Android M is ready to roll out this year. Google Nexus 2015 smart phones are scheduled to launch this year and Android users will be able to use the new OS at that point. Currently, Samsung is rolling out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to its latest range of smartphones such as S6 and S6 Edge, reported International Business Times.
Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge
The new Android Lollipop 5.1.1 is already available in the US with carriers like T-Mobile and US Cellular for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge but other carriers like Alike AT&T, Verizon and Sprint are yet to release Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for their S6 and S6 Edge users, said Yibada. As the arrival of Android 6.0 Marshmallow approaches nearer, users are expected to benefit from Android M. This would entail Android 5.1 and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates to be bypassed altogether.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge
Galaxy Note 4 users with Sprint carrier already have the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop along with Stagefright update. However, Verizon Wireless have to take the manual route to flash and install the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on their Note 4 devices from Android XDA.
Certain critical fixes have arrived in Poland, reported Sam Mobile. Note Edge users have been left behind since Android 5.1.1 Lollipop has not been released for them, said International Business Times.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 with T-Mobile only have Android 5.1.1 and Stagefright fix updates. Other carriers in the U.S. have not yet released Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for Galaxy S5 owners.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update
It is confirmed that several Galaxy users including Galaxy S series smartphones like the Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, and S6 Duos are slated to receive the new Android 6.0 update in near future, revealed GSM Arena. The Note series phablets that are likely to receive Android M include Galaxy Note 5, Note 4 and Note Edge, reported International Business Times.
