Formula 1 driver Jaime Alguersuari announced his retirement from auto sports to pursue his dream career in music.
Former Toro Rosso driver Alguersuari who is known as the youngest driver in Formula 1 race since 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix, announced his retirement at the age of 25. Alguersuari set this record at the age of 19 which was later broken by 17-year-old Max Verstappen in Australia earlier this year, according to ESPN.
Alguersuari was with Toro Rosso for two full seasons after completing the 2009 Grand Prix. However at the end of 2011 he was dropped by Toro Rosso team as well as from Red Bull's driver programme. That left him out of Formula 1 racing at the age of 21. He took part in the inaugural Formula E season and drove eight races but couldn't make a podium finish since he blacked out during Moscow ePrix.
"I decided to stop because it's time for change," said the ex-Formula 1 driver at a press conference. "Something inside me says it's the moment to take a different path because I think I have fallen out of love with this girlfriend who has been with me all these years," he added in a report by Le Buzz.
"I could stay just for the money but I need a change. What makes me happy is music, I am going to make music," noted Alguersuari. Though Alguersuari is involved in motorsports for last six years he has been composing music in his spare time and also worked as a DJ. No wonder he has such a great passion for music good enough to quit his prestigious career in auto sports.
Former Formula 1 driver wrote in his Twitter post said, "Many many thanks for your unconditional support through the years. I don't have words to describe what I feel." He also noted in another post: "It's time to move on and mark a new beginning following my dreams and listening to my heart. Thank you again."
