Song Joong Ki said an emotional goodbye to his fans at his final fan meeting before enlisting in the army. More than a thousand fans from countries including Korea, Japan, China and France came to the Sangmyung Art Center in Seoul to wish the actor well before his enlistment on August 27. The press was not invited to the fan meeting, as the actor wanted it to be a private event.

"Many must be curious as it's right before he goes into the army but we will be holding it privately as it has always been," said a representative of his agency. "Song Joong Ki believes that it should be a time dedicated solely to his fans."

During the meeting Song read a letter in which he told his fans that his memories of the fan meeting will be precious.

"Every one of you is precious to me," he told his fans.

The actor talked to the fans about a variety of subjects including his own dreams and goals.

"I tried to live my life as earnestly and passionately as I possibly could in my 20s," said Song, who starred in the dramas "Nice Guy" and "Sungkyunkwan Scandal," as well as the films "A Werewolf Boy" and "A Frozen Flower ". "After 30, I hope I will still be able to fulfill my dreams."

Song received video messages from fellow celebrities Kim Jae Joong, Ko Chang Suk, Yoo Ah In, Im Joo Hwan, Cha Tae Hyeon, but the arrival of one of his fellow actors caught him off guard.

Actor Jo In Sung showed up at the fan meeting surprising both the fans and Song Joong Ki. The appearance of Jo In Sung, his "A Frozen Flower" co-star, touched Song so much that he began to tear up.

"It's not easy to confide in someone about the things inside your heart, but Joong Ki is someone I feel comfortable around and I can talk to him without any inhibitions," said Jo In Sung.

"Jo In Sung has taken the path that I always dreamed of following," said Song. "I learned a lot from following him."

Song shook the hands of over a thousand fans at the end of the event and thanked them personally. He gave his fans presents of the sunglasses he often wears.

Song plans to finish up a few projects before reporting to the 102 Reserve Army Unit in Nonsan for basic training.

Those present said that the meeting was emotional both for the actor and the fans. A representative from the agency said that the meeting was a happy one.

"Song Joong Ki and his fans were filled with emotion and it was a memorable, happy time together."

The actor promised fans another fan meeting when he returned.

"I will go off to the army and come back well," he said.
