After the success of his latest drama "Missing You," Park Yoo Chun is taking his acting talent to the big screen. He has accepted a leading role in the film, "The Sea Fog," which will be produced by Boon Jong Ho, director of the current hit film "Snowpiercer."

"After long consideration, Park Yoo Chun is confirming his decision to join the cast," said a representative of his agency, C-JeS Entertainment. "They are working out the details of the contract."

It's hard to imagine that this move won't be a success as everything the singer-turned actor has done so far has been well received.

Park Yoo Chun began his singing career in 2003 as a member of the popular kpop group TVQX. He and fellow members Junsu and Jaejoong left the group in 2009 to form the successful band JYJ. He had a small role in a Japanese drama in 2010 but made his debut as a Korean actor two years later in "Sungkyunkwan Scandal," a historical drama co-starring Park Min Young, Song Joong Ki and Yoo Ah In. His role as a serious scholar in love with a woman disguised as a man earned him "Rookie of the Year" and "Best Couple" awards.

He also got a Best Newcomer" award for his role as a chaebol in "Miss Ripley then played a time-traveling prince in "Rooftop Prince." He co-starred with Yoon Eun Hye in the melodrama "Missing You," winning an "Excellence" award for his portrayal of a detective who mourned and was reunited with his lost love.

In "The Sea Fog," Park Yoo Chun will play Dong Shik, a sailor in conflict with the captain of the ship, played by Kim Yoon Shik.

The film "The Sea Fog" is based on the 2007 play "Hae Moo," which is based on a real life incident that happened in 2001. It's the story of a fishing boat that does not catch enough fish to keep operating. The ship's captain decides to make money by allowing Korean-Chinese residents to stow away and be smuggled into South Korea. The ship is chased by the maritime police and then encounters bad weather, which results in the death of stowaways, whose bodies are tossed overboard.

The role of Dong Shik was originally offered to Song Joong Ki, but the actor decided to fulfill his two-year compulsory military duty this year.

The movie is due to start filming in October.
