Gu Hye Sun is adding another first to her impressive artistic resume. The 31-year-old actress will have her first concert at Understage in the Itaewon neighborhood of Seoul. According to the Korean media outlet Joongang Daily, Gu Hye Sun's concert takes place on November 21.
Although Gu is best known as an actress for her roles in such dramas as "Boys Over Flowers," "The Musical," "Angel Eyes" and "Blood," she has been releasing albums since 2009. She not only sings but composes music.
Gu Hye Sun was originally set to debut as a member of 2NE1 with Park Bom and Sandara Park before YG's Yang Hyun Suk suggested she focus on acting instead.
Since then Gu has achieved success as an actress and also tried other artistic endeavors, including directing, writing and painting. And she kept on singing and composing music.
Gu's first album "Take A Breath" was produced for "Magic," the first feature film that she directed. Her latest album "Breath 2" serves as a follow up to that album. The title track "After 10 Years 100 Years" is adapted from the soundtrack for the 2012 film "Peach Tree," which Gu directed and wrote the script for. She composed the soundtrack for that film and musician Choi In Young arranged it. Gu also directed and acted in the 2014 film "Daughter," which focuses on the subject of child abuse.
In April 2015 Gu's piano piece titled "Rain, topped the QQ music chart in China. Although the track was originally released in 2009, it gained new attention after the actress appeared in the vampire drama "Blood" with Ahn Jae Hyun. The drama aired in February 2015. Although "Blood" had low viewer ratings in Korea, the drama was considered an international success.
At the November concert Gu will not only perform but will discuss her upcoming artistic projects.
