Private First Class Kim Jae Joong will sing at a concert being organized by the ROK Special Warfare Command. Unfortunately, his last performance received mixed reviews.
On October 26, the actor and JYJ singer performed the national anthem at the Korean Basketball League's 2015 game series in Daegu. During his performance he forgot a line. After pausing for a moment, he finished the anthem. It was notable that a singer with years of experience performing before large crowds should make such a mistake.
He received some online criticism for not remembering every line of the anthem.
A few days later he was the target of criticism again for an oversight at the Popular Culture and Arts Awards ceremony. On October 29 he mistakenly wore the Korean flag patch upside down on his uniform. Kim and his fellow JYJ members, Park Yoo Chun and Kim Junsu attended the ceremony to accept the Prime Minister's Award for their accomplishments as Hallyu stars.
Online comments about the upside down patch were divided between the sympathetic and the harshly critical.
Kim joined TVXQ in 2004 but left the group with fellow members Park Yoo Chun and Kim Junsu. In 2010 they formed JYJ. Fellow JYJ member Park Yoo Chun is also serving his mandatory military duty but he is not serving as an active duty soldier because he has asthma. Kim Junsu is due to enlist next year.
In the last years, Kim Jae Joong's acting career has also earned him praise. He recently appeared in the dramas "Triangle" and "Spy."
As Kim is currently serving his mandatory two-year military duty, which he began on March, he will perform at the upcoming concert as a military band member. According to the Korean media outlet Joongang Daily, the concert will take place on November 12 at the Incheon Art Hall in Gyeonggi.
He will be discharged in December 2016.
