So E Hyun has had her pick of attractive male co-stars lately. When she played the ghost-whispering detective in "Who Are You?" the detectives played by co-stars Taecyeon and Kim Jae Wook both loved and wanted to protect her.
And she had plenty of romantic scenes with Taecyeon, who she said was a surprisingly good kisser.
"Taecyeon was very professional during the kissing scene," said So.
Now she has signed on to "The Man From The Stars," a new drama starring Kim Soo Hyun, who appeared as the idol wannabe in "Dream High" and the tragic crown prince in "The Moon Embracing The Sun."
Will she get to kiss Kim Soo Hyun in "The Man From The Stars?" Maybe. But in this drama she is only the second female lead.
"The Man from the Stars" is a romantic comedy about an alien who lands on earth during the Joseon era and after 400 years of cynically observing human behavior, finally falls in love.
In the drama she plays the Harvard-educated announcer Yoo Se Mi, a woman who is both beautiful and accomplished. The only woman she considers her equal is the drama's heroine Chun Song Yi, an actress. It's a longstanding rivalry as Chun Song Yi stole her first love. Chun will be played by Gianna Jun, the actress best known for her role in "My Sassy Girl."
Kim Soo Hyun plays the cynical alien Do Min Joon. After four centuries of living undercover among earthlings and hiding his special abilities, he falls for Chun Song Yi.
Not a lot more has been said about So E Hyun's role but it seems likely that she will also like Kim Soo Hyun's alien and become Gianna Jun's rival.
So E Hyun has had both leading and supporting toles. She starred as Yang Shi Ohn in "Who Are You?" but in "Cheomdamdung Alice," she played the two-faced social climbing wife, Seo Yoon Joo. As the Cheomdamdung wife, she showed Moon Geun Young's character what it takes to marry for money.
So E Hyun's drama roles include appearances in "Happy Ending," "Glowing She" and "Heartstrings." She also had a cameo role in the recent hit, "I Hear Your Voice," playing a lawyer in one of the earlier episodes.
Park Ji Eun, who wrote "You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly," is writing "The Man From The Stars." Jang Tae Yoo, who directed "Tree with Deep Roots" will direct.
