Jang Geun Suk's recent fan meeting with Japanese fans demonstrates why he is called the "Prince of Asia. While the star is popular throughout Asia, he holds a special place in the heart of his Japanese fans. More than a thousand Japanese fans traveled to Korea for a two-day, one night fan meeting with the popular singer and actor.

The Hallyu star met with fans at the "Lotte Duty Free Jang Geun Suk In Star Avenue 2nd Camp" event in Gangwondo.

The event included dinner, a party, a question and answer session, and a concert during which Jang performed five songs. Fans went home with grateful hugs and gifts that included a video.

Because they are so loyal, Japanese fans may get to see more of him.

For example, the drama "Love Rain," that Jang starred in with Girls Generation's Im Yoona, did not get great ratings in Korea but got top ratings in Japan. That's why a movie version of the drama was made there, with a Japanese director editing the 20 drama episodes into a film. There are no plans for the film to be released in Korea.

His dramas "You're Beautiful" and "Mary Stayed Out All Night" also did well there, as did his second album, "Nature Boy" which was produced in a Japanese studio.

His Japanese fans may appreciate the fact that he speaks Japanese well enough to appear on radio and variety shows there.

But he does not even have to speak. Japanese fans rushed out to buy the cookbook he released there, titled "Jang Geun Suk's Love Recipe" with 20 of his favorite recipes. He opened the Asia Prince Shop in Tokyo to sell his fan merchandise.

A game has even been created so that his Japanese fans can dream of dating him. Called "Jang Geun Suk Tokimeki Love Story," players can star in a secret romance with the idol. The game was released last month.

Japanese fans will no doubt tune in to see his new drama "PrettyBoy " in which he plays the prettiest man in the world.

His character Dokgo Matte easily seduces women. But while his good looks attract women and wealth, they don't attract true love. "Pretty Boy" is based on a manga about the prettiest man in the world written by Cheon Hye Yong. The screenwriter is Yoo Yong Ah, who worked on the films "The Miracle in Cell No. 7" and "No Breathing." It will be Jang's first drama since "Love Rain."
