Lee Jun Ki has played romantic roles and he's good at it. But he prefers action thrillers such as his recent drama "Two Weeks," in which he spent the length of the drama running from everyone who was trying to kill or imprison him.
In that drama he played Jang Tae San, an aimless man who risked his life to save the daughter he never knew he had.
But what's next? Another thriller, which he enjoys? Or a flirty romantic role like the one he had in "My Girl?" Or maybe a paranormal drama such as "Arang and The Magistrate."
He's not too eager to take on a romance.
"When it comes to romantic comedies the reason I hesitate to choose one is that I lack experience in that area," he said.
He managed to convince viewers that he was in love when playing love scenes with his "Two Weeks" co-star Park Ha Sun. Even so, he's convinced that his romantic scenes are off.
"I don't think my acting comes across as natural."
But acting seems to be keeping him from acquiring that experience. He has in the past said he is too busy to date.
He has been romantically linked with Yoo Ri Ah, Song Hye Kyo, Uee and Shin Min Ah. He denied all those rumors but also said that he would not admit to dating even if he was seeing someone .
"I have answered like this ever since my debut and I think it's the right away to answer," he said. "If I want to marry someone I like, our dating must remain a secret. I do not want to date in the public eye."
When asked if he currently had plans to marry, he said that he needed to be in a relationship first.
Still, he has plenty of time to date since he always takes a while to find just the right project.
"I want to start a project early next year but it's rare for me to do more than one project a year," he said. "I met with producers and asked for scripts. My goal is to come up with something within the year."
His fans would like him to be in more films but he prefers dramas.
"I think dramas suit me better as the environment requires me to think about my role from the moment I open my eyes until I close them," he said.
Lee's first major acting role was in the film "The King and the Clown." Since then he has appeared in the dramas "Time Between Wolf and Dog," "Iljimae," and "Hero," as well as "Arang and the Magistrate" and "Two Weeks."
