Among the many idols who have been casted in dramas, only a few of them have made it into the movie industry. The following is a list of idol-actors who gained attention by starring in movies this October.
1. Big Bang's T.O.P.
"The Commitment" is about the North Korean teenager Myung Hoon, who goes undercover as a South Korean spy in order to save his sister from the hardships of a military boot camp, and Big Bang's T.O.P portrays this character.
It is his first time as a lead actor in a film, and for his role, he proved his determination by going through an isolation to understand the true feelings of his character. T.O.P also showed his passion by saying that he wanted to be known as someone with a subdued yet genuine acting, rather than someone who goes overboard.
2. MBLAQ's Lee Joon
"Rough Play" is a story of a rookie actor who is suddenly shot into fame overnight. MBLAQ's Lee Joon portrayed the role of Young, and he suddenly learns the darkness behind all the glitz and glamour of the rich and the famous.
Lee Joon has been a hot topic since the release of his adult teaser. Despite the mature themes of the movie, the idol-actor hopes to reach the audience through his portrayal of the character, rather than the scenes of him showing off his body.
3. Girls' Generation's Yuri
"No Breathing" is a story of two best friends, who are not only competing for the spot as number one swimmer, but also for the heart of their childhood friend, Jung Eun. Her character is a goofy and boyish aspiring musician who is portrayed by Girls' Generation's Yuri.
It is the first time for Yuri to star in a movie, and she is determined to hone her acting skills by joining more projects in the future. She revealed that she enjoyed filming with her co-actors, and even said jokingly that she was disappointed by the lack of kiss scenes in the movie. The movie premiered on October 30.
4. 2PM's Taecyeon
"Marriage Blue" tells the story of different couples who are going through pre-wedding jitters, and the ways on how they will overcome these unfortunate events. 2PM's Taecyeon took on the role of Won Chul, who is engaged to his long-time girlfriend So Mi (Lee Yeon Hee).
