Actress Shin Se Kyung, the female lead character of "Rookie Historian: Goo Hae Ryung," talks about her image as an actress in an interview.

When asked about her thoughts about these key terms associated with her such as, 'feminine,' 'calm,' 'poker face,' and 'dark and mysterious,' she answered:

"I know a lot of people see me in a calm image, but when I was young, I thought that my personality wasn't. When I'm with people, it's sometimes five-way. People are three-dimensional, and it's hard to say 'I'm this person' with only one side. I think I'm calm too."

However, through her drama with Cha Eun Woo, fans and viewers were amazed at how her acting skills and ability improved throughout her experience. Shin Se Kyung played the role of Goo Hae Ryung, who is a feminist, and fought for her rights to become a historian.

Meanwhile, Shin shared that she also thinks that her role for this drama was different from her other characters.

"This work was different from the historical drama that I did before. This was all new to me, and it was interesting. I had a challenging role and I wanted to express it to those who saw it uncomfortably. I also wanted to show a woman's disposition and affection comfortably."

Goo Hae Ryung is not the typical kind of women during the Joseon Dynasty, and the actress also revealed her inner feelings doing the project:

"All the words and actions that Goo Hae-Ryung showed were challenging to think about in that era. Even in the Joseon Dynasty, can a woman do that much? I felt that it should be lower. I could express it without any doubt from the middle and the latter part of the drama, but I was worried about it at the beginning."

Shin Se Kyung portrayed the role successfully that after the drama, fans were able to picture her more playing a strong character. This shows that she can adapt to different roles, and the actress was happy that she could change her personality. Still, she admitted that "Calm image? Right. That's part of me."
