The upcoming drama of JTBC titled "Mystic Pop-Up Bar" formerly known as "Ssang Gap Pocha" has shared some photos from its very first script reading!
The drama "Mystic Pop-Up Bar" is based on the popular webtoon of the same title and tells the story of a strange and mysterious "pojangmacha" which is an outdoor drinking establishment operated by an irritable woman portrayed by Hwang Jung Eum and an honest part-timer played by BTOB's Yook Sungjae. What they do is, they visit customers in their dreams to help resolve their problems. That is how their "pojangmacha" became mysterious.
"Mystic Pop-Up Bar" finished their filming at the end of February and as of the moment is in the middle of their post-production. The drama will be 100 percent pre-produced before it airs in the month of May.
Last August 2019, the first script reading with the cast and crew happened and it was held at the JTBC offices in Sangam-dong, Seoul. The show is helmed by Director Jeon Chang Geun and the drama is penned by writer Ha Yoon Ah. Both were in attendance at the script reading together with the dramas cast members namely Jung Eum, Yook Sungjae, Choi Won Young, Lee Joon Hyuk, and Jung Da Eun.
Beautiful actress Hwang Jung Eum plays the character of Wol Joo, who is the owner of the "pojangmacha." Wol Joo doesn't quite belong to either the world of the living or the world of the dead, which permits her to transport between dreams.
Yook Sungjae on the other hand plays the character of Han Kang Bae. He works at the Gab Eul Mart's customer service center and also a part-timer at the "pojangmacha" that is owned by Wol Joo. He has a special gift, a strange ability to somehow make people admit and confess their secrets when he comes into physical contact with them.
The manager of the "pojangmacha" named Foreman Gwi is being portrayed by Actor Choi Won Young. He is the person in charge of Wol Joo's performance management. He is previously a detective squad chief in the Afterlife Police Department.
Meanwhile, actor Lee Joon Hyuk plays the Department Head Yeom, a grim reaper whose job is a department head in Hell. And Jung Da Eun portrays the character of Yeo Rin, a prim and proper security worker at Gab Eul Mart who has never been on a date because an unknown reason makes men run away from her.
There is a behind-the-scenes video that was shot from the script reading that displays the cast struggling not to crack up between lines. Each and every actor highlights the special and unique personality of their characters. The cast of the show quickly formed a rhythm and chemistry that makes it hard to believe this was their first time meeting each other. Other actors appear shortly as the customers who will bring the "pojangmacha" to life with their one of kind stories.
"Mystic Pop-Up Bar" is scheduled to premiere on the 20th of May.
