Im Si-wan Considers Portraying a Track and Field Athlete in New JTBC Drama "Run On"

Im Si-wan is in talks to come back with a new drama soon!

Plum Entertainment, which is handling the actor, announced on March 26 that the actor received a casting offer from the JTBC's upcoming drama, titled Run On. The agency said that Im Si-wan is currently reviewing the script and is considering the role.

This project will be the debut drama of screenwriter Park Min-sook, who has worked with Kim Eun-sook as one of the assistant writers of the hit drama Descendants of the Sun.

Run On will center its story on the track and field athlete who has lived his life running and never looking back and the translator for foreign films who has spent most her life going around the same scenes over and over again. Both characters will meet and be attracted to each other. They will set each other free from the chains of their sad lives.

The male lead character's name is Ki Sun-kyum, a member of the track and field national team who eventually becomes a sports agent. He was born form a prestigious family. His father is an assemblyman. His mother, on the other hand, is a famous actress who is adored by many and he has an older sister who is a professional golfer. He was forced to be in a career path that he was never interested in due to his family background and was under pressure to be successful. But things started to shift when he met a person who helped him break free from his chains.

Im Si-wan took part in the cast of the period drama, titled Moon Embracing the Sun in 2012. This was the particular drama that launched the actor to fame since it surpassed 40% ratings and gained the "national drama" status. In the same year, he was also casted in the revenge drama Equator where he portrayed the character of a cold young man that has a sad story behind his negative outlook in life. Then, Im Si-wan was casted on the sitcom Standby.

His first big screen role was in the war film A Melody to Remember in 2016. This was his first big screen leading role, playing as a kind-hearted soldier who is hoping for a miracle even in a desperate situation.

After having completed his mandatory military service, Im Si-wan last played a drama lead role in Strangers From Hell which marked as his comeback to the small screen.

The drama Run On will be helmed by director Lee Jae-hoon, who also created The Ghost Detective (2018) and Good Manager (2017).

The drama is set to premiere in November this year, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the production team is planning to push back the first broadcast to December or early next year.
