Beautiful actress Kim Yoo Jung expressed her thoughts about her role in the upcoming drama, titled "Backstreet Rookie"!
The forthcoming SBS series is a romantic comedy based on the hit webtoon "Convenience Store Saet Byeol," penned by Hwalhwasan. The drama will tell the temperamental love story of a good looking convenience store owner Choi Dae Hyun, portrayed by Ji Chang Wook, and a one-of-a-kind part-time employee Jung Saet Byul, played by Kim Yoo Jung. This project is helmed by director Lee Myung Woo, who also directed The Fiery Priest."
Kim Yoo Jung was asked about why she chose to star in this drama, and she responded, "The material that tells the story of a convenience store was fresh and interesting. I also wanted to know how Saet Byeol grew up working at a convenience store, and I liked the episodes with people coming and going to the convenience store."
The actress then added that she accepted this drama because of the character and personality of Jung Saet Byul.
"Saet Byeol is a true friend who knows what she likes. Sometimes, it's like fire, but I really liked the warm and pretty side of her. I was so attracted by her lovely appearance, a child I can't hate," Kim Yoo Jung added.
"Backstreet Rookie" will show the fans and viewers a brand new side of the actress. As seen in the second part of the teaser, Kim Yoo Jung showcased her strong personality as Jung Saet Byul when she yelled at some high school students and gave them a strong, powerful kick. Kim Yoo Jung revealed that she was able to learn the action scenes in the drama by enrolling in an action school.
"Saet Byeol is a good athlete and tries to do everything hard. I will feature how passionate and youthful she is," the actress shared.
"Backstreet Rookie" is scheduled to air on June 19.
Kim Yoo Jung was born on September 22, 1999. She started her acting career in 2003, where she was known very well as a child actress. Since then, she has bloomed and transitioned into teen roles through her TV series, namely "Dong Yi" (2010), "Moon Embracing the Sun" (2012), "May Queen" (2012), and "Angry Mom" (2015).
From November 2014 to April 2016, she was the host of the music show Inkigayo. But her breakthrough was when she took her first leading role in KBS2's historical drama "Love in the Moonlight" (2016) with actor Park Bo Gum.
Kim Yoo Jung is also nicknamed as "Korea's Little Sister" when she was a child actress. In the year 2017, at the young age of 17, the actress ranked 8th on Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list, in which she became the youngest to be included in the Top 10.
