The stress of his recent dating scandal has negatively affected actor Jung Woo's health, but "Reply 1994" producers say that he will not let it slow down the shooting schedule of the popular new drama.
According to a representative from the show, "Although Jung Woo is feeling a lot of stress, he is not letting it interfere with his work and continues to focus on his acting. The biggest thing that he worries about is that the scandal will negatively affect the drama."
The scandal began last week when it was reported that the star, who enjoyed a rush of popularity from his "Reply 1994" role as the character Trash, was currently dating designer Kim Jin. The actor and the designer dated previously but they broke up a year ago. His agency was quick to deny the reports that they were currently dating.
Then reports surfaced that Jung Woo was dating his "Red Family" co-star Kim Yoo Mi. They were said to have dated for over a year and were planning to marry. As a result netizens assumed that the actor dated the two women at the same time.
His agency again clarified the rumors saying that Jung Woo and Kim Yoo Mi met on the set of the film and only began dating recently.
"Jung Woo and Kim Yoo Mi are dating," said his agency representative. "A certain news agency reported that they dated for a year but that's not true. They developed feelings for each other while filming 'Red Family' and it's been three months since they started dating."
The agency also denied their plans to marry.
Things really escalated when Jung Woo's former girlfriend Kim Jin criticized him on her Facebook page, accusing the actor of not considering her reputation.
"You should have blocked the reports about me," she wrote. "Look how you made me seem when I didn't do anything. You're a delinquent and a two-timer. This really isn't right. We were going to get married but you just broke up with me one-sidedly, driving a nail into my mother's heart as well. It seemed like you were finally gaining recognition these days so I was going to be loyal until the end but... you really have no loyalty or manners at all."
Jung Woo's representatives tried to explain that it was all a misunderstanding.
And Kim Jin later tried to explain why she was so upset.
"Because I knew how hard he worked, I stayed quiet even when the dating rumors emerged. I don't care if he is dating Kim Yoo Mi but he should have stopped the reports of him and me and kept things clean," she said before admitting that since the scandal broke she has found it difficult to face people.
She wanted an apology from the actor. "It's all very unfortunate."
Although it takes place during an earlier year, "Reply 1994" is actually a sequel to the hit series "Reply 1997."
