MBC "Special Labor Inspector" won the silver award at the New York TV Festival!
"Special Labor Inspector", which was aired from April to May 2019, is a comedy-drama starring Kim Dong Wook, Park Se Young, Kim Kyung Nam, and Ryu Deok Hwan.
The drama revolves around a judo teacher who unable to tolerate any injustice. He works as a civil servant and was appointed as a labor inspector in the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
Inspector Jo Jin-Gap (Kim Dong Wook) is a hardworking and honest person who has a strong sense of justice. He was once a national judo athlete after trying to complain and protest an unfair result from a competition he joined in. He stop his career in judo when he lost his temper in front of the chairman's son.
In his line of duty, inspector Jo checks and investigate illegal and incorrect malpractice in the implementation of the working conditions stipulated in the Labor Standards Acts. He summoned and arrest businessman and employers who abused and gives unfair labor practices.
Inspector Jo wishes to live a peaceful life after ending his career in sports but he never knew that as a labor inspector he encounters more gangsters and fight for injustice.
Kim Dong Wook gained 10kg to perform the character and lead a more energetic performance than the usual shy type in his previous drama. He won the Daesang Award 2019 in MBC Drama Awards for his role. He also took the Best Actor in the 14th Seoul International Drama Awards 2019.
The story offers a realistic story of the society wherein inspector Jo portrays by fighting gangsters and protects corruption in the business and labor sectors. The viewers were able to relate and enjoy the drama with Kim Dong Wook's good chemistry with other actors.
