Director Oh Jin Seok Reveals Reason for 'W: City of Undying Women' Production Delay

"W: City of Undying Women" is one of the most anticipated dramas for 2021. When their supposed-to-be start of production this February was announced, many were excited to see it as this is another drama helmed by Director Oh Jin Seok.

However, in an exclusive interview, Director Oh Jin Seok made a direct statement on the afternoon of Jan. 15, saying, "The timing of the formation has also been delayed according to the performance of the production, not the loss of production."

He went on and explained that they initially planned to begin filming in February. However, due to the spread of the COVID-19, they had difficulty with the production. The pandemic did not improve nonetheless -- it has gotten worse. That was why they decided to postpone the filming, and at the same time, the formation was also delayed.

Additionally, Director Oh highlighted that actresses scheduled to appear indefinitely could add more damage. They will eventually start production when the situation starts to improve and the filming conditions are created.

Because of the situation, '"W: City of Undying Women" production is put on hold and they aim to organize it in the second half of 2021 by elevating the extent of completion in a pre-production format.

"W: City of Undying Women" is about two women, both living lives distinctively, found each other and joined hands to abandon everything they had before them to create a world where justice and truth prevails.

The story will circle a wo-mance, where, of course, these two women will stop at nothing to fight for the truth. The strength and the proximity of what women can do will be seemingly centered. As we all know, many are advocates of feminism as lots of women are still suffering from gender inequality.

The plot has not yet been fully explained yet judging by the title, female power is definitely highlighted in this upcoming project.

Singer-dancer Uhm Jung Hwa and multi-awarded actress Kim Sun Ah will be the drama's leading ladies.

Uhm Jung Hwa is a singer, dancer, and actress who has been labeled as the "evergreen." She is considered one of South Korea's most influential women in the entertainment industry. She is by far being recognized by a lot of female artists as their role model.

She began her career as a member of the broadcasting company MBC in 1987 and made her debut on the big screen in the film "Marriage Story" in 1992.

In "W: City of Undying Women," the actress is said to portray the role of a labor and human rights lawyer named Oh Seung Sook. She will be a compassionate lawyer, willing to help those who have troubled hearts.

Moreover, veteran actress Kim Sun Ah will play Hwang Do Hee.

The actress is best known for her titular role as Kim Sam Soon in the popular television 2005 drama series "My Lovely Sam Soon" with Hyun Bin, and this role made her snatch the Best Actress title at the Korea Broadcasting Producers Awards.

These two fierce ladies will surely be perfect for their roles in what is surely one of the most anticipated dramas.

Though their production may be put on hold, Director Oh will deliver this drama with high expectations. Director Oh Jin Seok is also the director of the suspense drama "Yong Pal" and the 2017's "My Sassy Girl."
