Talented actor Kang Dong Won has decided to remain with his current agency, YG Entertainment, and renewed a contract with them!

YG Entertainment gladly announced on January 21, 2021, that actor Kang Dong Won recently renewed his contract with them. The famous model-turned-actor initially signed a contract with the agency way back in 2016 and in 2019, he also renewed his exclusive contract with them. This year (2021), Kang Dong Won still chose to stay with YG Entertainment.

Meanwhile, Kang Dong Won recently celebrated his 40th birthday and in line with this celebration, let's take a look at the actor's humble beginning in the entertainment industry.

South Korean actor Kang Dong Won was born January 18, 1981. The handsome actor is 186 cm tall which made him fit to be a model. When he was still a first-year university student way back in 2000, Kang Dong Won was spotted on the street by a modeling agent. This was the start of his career in the entertainment industry and he eventually participated on the catwalk for prêt-à-porter collections in Paris such as DKNY, Gucci, and Hugo Boss, and more!

Moving forward, his career as an actor blossomed when he starred in the film adaptation of Guiyeoni's teen internet novel titled Temptation of Wolves. Because of his beautiful and androgynous appearance, Kang Dong Won's fame skyrocketed and his popularity reached other Asian countries, especially Japan.

On November 18, 2010, Kang Dong Won enlisted for his mandatory military service with his four weeks of basic training at the Nonsan military camp in South Chungcheong Province. Then he was assigned as a public service worker at Seoul City Research Institute of Public Health and Environment. He finished his mandatory service on November 12, 2012.


Fast forward to 2016, Kang Dong Won starred as a con artist in the crime film A Violent Prosecutor helmed by Director Lee Il Hyung. This film became the 2nd highest-grossing Korean film of year (2016). This was then followed multiple projects which includes Um Tae Hwa's fantasy film 'Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned' and Cho Ui Seok's financial thriller film 'Master' where he starred alongside famous actors Lee Byung Hun and Kim Woo Bin.

Before he signed with YG Entertainment in January 2016, he was under United Artist Agency.

The following year, the actor made a special appearance as Yi Han Yeol in Jang Joon-hwan's historical film 1987: When the Day Comes. Then in 2018, he portrayed the character of a delivery man accused for the death of a politician, in 'Golden Slumber' which based on Isaka Kotaro's novel with the same title. After this, his next project was in the science fiction action thriller Illang: The Wolf Brigade, which is a film adaption based on Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, a Japanese animated thriller.

His most recent appearance was in the zombie thriller film "Peninsula," the 2020 sequel to the hit zombie film "Train to Busan."
