KBS 2TV gears up for the upcoming debut of "Youth of May" starring the "Sweet Home" star Lee Do Hyun.
The broadcasting network teased fans with their first stills featuring the 25-year-old actor as he transformed into a top-notch medical student, Hwang Hee Tae.
In the recently unveiled still cuts, the "18 Again" star exudes the character's cheerfulness with his playful expression despite unexpected events in his life.
"Youth of May" Cast Members and Premiere
Back in December, KBS 2TV confirmed that Lee Do Hyun would lead the forthcoming retro-romance drama, set in the 1980s.
Aside from the actor, the network announced the list of the main cast, including Lee Sang Yi, Geum Sae Rok, and his fellow "Sweet Home" co-star Go Min Si.
"Youth of May is helmed by Song Min Yeop, who also directed the 2019 drama "Doctor Prisoner," and is slated to premiere this coming May.
The romance drama is set under the tumultuous times of the Gwangju Uprising. It follows the story of Hwang Hee Tae, an easygoing medical student who grew up in the countryside of Gwangju.
With his wit and intelligence, he tries to break away from the stereotype of his upbringing by entering the prestigious Seoul National University College of Medicine, where he is considered as the top of his class.
There, he met a third-year nursing student Kim Myung Hee, played by Go Min Si.
Just like Hwang Hee Tae, Myung Hee has also endured a lot of life's hardship but refuses to stumble and continues to fight for her dream.
Aside from the duo, Geum Sae Rok and Lee Sang Yi will portray siblings Lee Soo-Ryeon and Lee Soo Chan, who have opposite personalities.
Lee Soo Chan is the eldest and carries the responsibility of their family business; on the other hand, his brother Lee Soo Ryeon is a happy-go-lucky law school student.
