‘Minari’ Star Yoon Yeo Jung Goes Viral with Her Entertaining Acceptance Speech after Winning at BAFTA 2021

South Korean actress Yoon Yeo Jung continues to make waves in the international scene after her record-breaking win at the BAFTA 2021.

The 73-year-old celebrity took home another award after winning the Supporting Actress award for her role in "Minari" during this year's British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards.

She eclipsed some of the industry's brightest stars, including Kosar Ali, Ashley Madekwe, Irish actress Niamh Algar, "judas and the black messiah" star Dominique Fishback and lastly, Maria Bakalova for her movie "Borat."

During her virtual acceptance speech, the veteran actress went viral after she jokingly described the Brits as "snobbish people."

After the presenter, David Oyelowo, called her name, the "Never Twice" star mentioned that she was honored to be nominated and given a prestigious award.

Before starting her acceptance speech, Yoon Yeo Jung gave her "deepest condolences" to Queen Elizabeth II's husband and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, as he recently passed away at the age of 99.

The actress continued by thanking everyone and said that the award was "meaningful" to her adding "especially [to be] recognized by British people, known as very snobbish people, and they approve me as a good actor. So I'm very, very privileged and happy."

The South Korean actress made the entire room laugh, especially Oyelowo, who can't hide his laughter.

Twitter Celebrates Yoon Yeo Jung's Win as BAFTA 2021 Best Supporting Actress

Aside from stealing the show with her tongue and cheek remark, fans over Twitter celebrated her win and even lauded her hilarious comment about the British people.

On the other hand, an individual expresses that he won't be surprised if the South Korean pride bags her Oscar nomination.

After joining the cast of the critically acclaimed movie "Minari," the 73-year-old actress has been scoring historical wins left and right in prestigious awards, including the recently held Screen Actors Guild Award.

Yoon Yeo Jung was the first Korean actress to take home the best-supporting actress for SAG 2021 for her portrayal as the grandmother, Soonja.

Moreover, the 2020 drama film also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film as well as the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Young Performer courtesy of newcomer Alan S. Kim.

On the other hand, the veteran actress also broke the 102-year history of the country's film industry after being nominated for the same category at the 93rd Academy Awards, which will take place on April 26.

Aside from the "Lucky Chan-sil" actress, her "Minari" co-star Steven Yeun was also nominated for the Best Actor category.

Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the story follows the lives of the first-generation Korean immigrant family and their American dream journey.

The patriarch, played by the "Walking Dead" actor and her wife alongside two kids and grandmother, moves to an Arkansas farm as they face challenges and discover resilience in their new life.
