SBS is gearing up for the much-awaited team-up of Ahn Hyo Seop and Kim Yoo Jung for the historical drama "Lovers of the Red Sky."
The broadcast network released the drama's official trailer featuring the past and present of Hong Chun Gi (Kim Yoo Jung) and Ha Ram (Ahn Hyo Seop.)
Set in the Joseon era, the first teaser displayed the twisted romance between the characters as the words "The crossroads between life and death" appeared.
The "Lovers of the Red Sky" piqued the viewers' interest as it featured Ha Ram's mysteriously gleaming red eyes while saying, "Even if I loved you, I am already a dead man."
In the next clip, Hong Chun Gi accidentally meets Ha Ram. "Is this really you?" She asked.
As the phrase "The fateful love begins" flashed, Ha Ram then asked Hong Chun Gi, "Did you wait for me?" To which she answers, "I can never forget you," showing a glimpse during their childhood while he emotionally touched Chun Gi's face.

'Lovers of the Red Sky' Release Date, Cast and We Need to Know
Based on the novel of the same name written by Jung Eun Gwol, the upcoming historical drama is helmed by "My Love from the Star" and "Hyena" director Jang Tae Yoo, alongside "Be Melodramatic" screenwriter Kim Young Young.
"Lovers of the Red Sky" follows the story of an everlasting romance between childhood lovers Hong Chun Gi and Ha Ram.
In the drama, Kim Joo Yung's character portrays a beautiful and talented painter who works for the Dohwaseo or the Korean Royal Academy of Painting.
Meanwhile, Ha Ram, played by Ahn Hyo Seop, is a blind astrologer who has the ability to read the stars despite his condition.
Chun Gi falls head over heels with Ha Ram despite being blind. Unfortunately, due to unforeseeable circumstances, he finds himself waiting for her.
Apart from the duo, "Lovers of the Red Sky" cast also includes "Be Melodramatic" star Gong Myung, set to play the role of the free-spirited Prince Anpyeong, who loves poetry, art, books, and everything that illustrates romance.
Kwak Si Yang joins him as cruel and ambitious Prince Sooyang. In the drama, he portrays the exact opposite of Prince Anpyeong and is determined to be the next king, whatever it takes.
"Lovers of the Red Sky" release date is slated to air in SBS on August 30 and will be the newest Monday and Tuesday K-drama.
'Lovers of the Red Sky' Script Reading
During their first script reading in November 2020, lead stars Kim Yoo Jung, Ahn Hyo Seop, Gong Myung, and Kwak Shi Yang showed the whole team their enthusiastic performances and chemistry that raised expectations for the upcoming drama.
At the time, the producers praised the cast members' synergy suggesting that everyone will have a fun and good working relationship.
"It was so lively that every character in the script was vividly felt, and this made everyone anticipate the story of 'Lovers of the Red Sky' to be expressed in a video."
The producers also invited the viewers, saying, "Please anticipate the fantasy romance of 'Lovers of the Red Sky' that is like a painting."
